Nolan

Good morning. We’re very pleased to have you here at Prometech Solutions.

We can’t think of a world without technology or internet today. But with our modern world comes modern problems. How do we build accessible and reliable networks and how do we secure them ? How about the buildings ? How do we secure them while keeping them accessible ? How do we address energy consumption and make these infrastructures eco-friendly without cutting on user experience ? It is especially true today with universities, vast wells of knowledge.

Here, at Prometech Solutions, we truly believe that everything is possible and that we can build a better future with smarter solutions. Of course, every network begins with low-level technology. Cables, computers, servers, and other network devices are what make connection possible.

Here’s Maxime to guide you through the physical level of our solutions.

At Prometech Solutions, we value user experience. That’s why we put extra efforts into bringing to life solutions with a high level of availability and security. Our network core is designed to not have a single bottleneck and ensure constant accessibility of the services even on very bad days.

Starting from the end user all the way up to the internet, all links are redundant. Each floor gets two switches connecting the end equipments, depending on the number of rooms and devices that needs connection. The distribution layer ensures that every part of the building is connected even in the event of equipment failure. The datacenter gets its own distribution layer, directly connected to the core switches, following, yet again, the logic of redundancy. All the way at the top of the network’s core lie two firewalls to keep the network secure no matter what. And finally, two routers using a fiber optic cable and 4G network are the main gateways to the worldwide web.

Storage and backups are mandatory when it comes to building a reliable and efficient network. That’s why we’ve chosen Synology for its great flexibility regarding disk life cycle, with a large panel of RAID systems to ensure data redundancy. This solution comes with integrated and robust functionalities to verify and guarantee integrity and data backups. Its backup technology, along with Veeam, adds another layer of redundancy to our already robust system. Connecting networks and people is what makes the internet so extraordinary.

Connecting universities and campuses isn’t less exciting. I lend it to Hugo, who’ll explain how we connect multiple buildings that are not even remotely close.

Connecting facilities in different locations is the great challenge of building networks today.

Thankfully, we can rely on internet providers to help us with the infrastructure needed. We partnered with the biggest network providers to use their large, nationwide, backbone networks and connect multiple sites with the MPLS technology. The links via two buildings are now done through an incredibly fast VPN-MPLS infrastructure, allowing us to cut the costs for customers by 5 while keeping speed, flexibility, reliability, and security at an all-time high.

Remote work has never been as ubiquitous as it is today. That’s why our solutions provide extra measures to enable users to connect to the company’s or university’s network wherever they may be. Roaming is an important part of today’s life ; that’s why Wi-Fi is at the core of our building solutions. Our Wi-Fi routers allow rapid and stable connectivity for students and professionals.

Remote work isn’t less important, and the increasing use of VPNs makes working from home easier than ever. Our VPN infrastructure allows confidentiality, security, and efficiency of the sent and received information between users and the organization network.

Interconnection is one thing, but the most important part of a network is its users. Taking you through our approach at user-oriented devices and layouts, here is Finaritra.

Thanks Hugo.

Yes, wide area networks are what make internet, internet. But let’s not forget about the users and the servers, without whom the internet would simply not exist.

We focus on « one human, one machine ». That’s right! Every user gets to have their own device. Sometimes sharing is caring, but oftentimes when you need to master a skill, sharing a computer or a network connection can really set you back. But there’s more ! How about I told you that not a single computer is assigned to a particular user? Mind-boggling, right? Well, not really. Many companies and universities already use that technique and rely on virtual machines fired up in a central server. The downside? Speed, efficiency, reliability. Too many of you know the struggle of having a laggy computer at uni.

At Prometech Solutions, we’ve come up with a different approach. Instead of having your entire OS centralized, we only host your personal storage in the datacenter of the premises. The computer’s OS stays where the machine is. What about the software, you may ask? Well, every computer comes with a set of installed software set by the administrator of the network. On your machine, you can’t install anything, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t have it. Your manager or professor might find it relevant to have Adobe software installed on every computer of your team or class. So they can ring the admin and have it installed, only on your account. And the best of it all? No more slow computers ; everything’s running locally!

The security is always addressed, and you can rest assured that we’ve put extra efforts into securing the physical computers. Regarding our buildings as a whole, we truly believe that intelligence is what makes efficiency and security really come alive. CCTV, badges, and detection systems ensure utmost security for staff and customers. For universities, the badges can be used to access a wide range of free service bookable rooms.

What about the energy cunsomption? All these systems sure need a lot of electricity, especially when running at full capacity.

I pass it to Nolan, who’ll talk about our energy production solutions.

Nolan

These servers, computers, and network devices do consume a lot of energy, indeed.

We, at Prometech Solutions, are deeply concerned with climate change, and it’ll come as no surprise that the internet is heavily contributing to global pollution. Our intelligent building solutions come with integrated eco-friendly innovations to better cool down devices and provide clean, renewable energy, not only to the computers but to the whole premises too.

Solar panels are one of them. But there’s more! Wind turbines, reuse of the heat generated by the devices, and making full use of winter and summer environmental conditions are other ways of ensuring that our buildings stay within our NR certification objectives.

Regarding our datacenter solutions, efficiency and environmental issues are again at the forefront of our research. As mentioned, the heat is reused, but not just the heat of the servers ; the UPSs are also generating a lot of heat. But in current datacenters, this energy is wasted. We preferred to reuse it to heat the premises during winter and send it back on the city heating network during the summertime.

Security is one of our top priorities, and we always make sure that our products and solutions come with all the integrated security measures to ensure the safety of your data and of your users. From physical security built directly into our intelligent buildings to software pre-installed into computers, without forgetting about securing USB ports.

We are so very excited to let you get your hands on our new intelligent building solutions. You can trust us to always improve, secure, reuse, and create meaningful solutions to help you in your digital journey to tomorrow.

Thank you for joining us ; have a great day.
